The book was an unexpected delight and at the same time unexpectedly short. I’m all ready wanting to buy this book for my nephew. It’s inspirational showing the effects of small, every day people who chose to do the right thing and in turn their actions saved lives in future generations. One man’s actions saved our country. I don’t think people realize how every action is important from the conversation you had with a woman at the grocery store to life decisions you make. Your action has a reaction. This book shows how God designed each of us for a purpose, and when you look at the whole picture it is amazing to see how the dominoes fall.
The Butterfly Effect begins like a history lesson, but reads like a novel. I would encourage you not to skip over the Author’s Note. It is very interesting. Give it away to someone who needs to see that their life matters. So much of the time we go through every day without realizing our value in God’s eyes. We are much more than just a grocery store clerk, a government employee, an IRS man, or a custodian. Won’t you spread your wings and beat the air and take a chance on life?

Lorenz was working with computer models for predicting the weather when he found that small rounding differences in input numbers caused significant changes in the results. He proposed that small differences at the outset can make for large differences in the results, making longterm weather forecasting highly difficult if not impossible. Examples include a butterfly flapping its wings in Central Park causing rain in China or a butterfly flapping its wings in New York causing a hurricane in Japan. In the —80s, butterfly effect spread to academia and then on to popular culture. Articles referencing the butterfly effect appeared in various scientific journals.

In chaos theory , the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. The term, closely associated with the work of Edward Lorenz , is derived from the metaphorical example of the details of a tornado the exact time of formation, the exact path taken being influenced by minor perturbations such as the flapping of the wings of a distant butterfly several weeks earlier. Lorenz discovered the effect when he observed that runs of his weather model with initial condition data that was rounded in a seemingly inconsequential manner would fail to reproduce the results of runs with the unrounded initial condition data.

Having been the victim of several childhood traumas aggravated by stress-induced memory losses, he attempts to set things right for himself and his friends, but there are unintended consequences for all. The film draws heavily on flashbacks of the characters' lives at ages 7 and 13 and presents several alternative present-day outcomes as Evan attempts to change the past, before settling on a final outcome. The film had a poor critical reception.
