Dear Evan Hansen - So Big / So Small Lyrics

The World Is Big and I'm So Small

To shine a spotlight on [their pain] is both uncomfortable and necessary. To purchase tickets to Dear Evan Hansen , click here. It freed me up to think like an artist again. Jones began to make a name for herself with roles in Hair and Pippin , but it seems fitting the role marking her most powerful performance to date is a mom. Jones relates viscerally to her character, and it reflected in the first table reads, as she built Heidi and navigated moments with co-star Ben Platt. Blocking belongs on the stage, not on websites.

Heidi comforts Evan , reflecting on the day when his father left, assuring him that she won't be going anywhere. It was a February day When your dad came by, before going away A U-Haul truck in the driveway The day it was suddenly real I told you not to come outside But you saw that truck And you smiled so wide A real live truck in your driveway We let you sit behind the wheel Goodbye, goodbye Now it's just me and my little guy And the house felt so big, and I felt so small The house felt so big, and I felt so small That night, I tucked you into bed I will never forget how you sat up and said "Is there another truck coming to our driveway? A truck that will take mommy away" And the house felt so big, and I felt so small The house felt so big, and I— And I knew there would be moments that I'd miss And I knew there would be space I couldn't fill And I knew I'd come up short a million different ways And I did And I do And I will But like that February day I will take your hand, squeeze it tightly and say There's not another truck in the driveway Your mom isn't going anywhere Your mom is staying right here Your mom isn't going anywhere Your mom is staying right here No matter what I'll be here When it all feels so big 'Til it all feels so small When it all feels so big 'Til it all feels so small 'Til it all feels so small. I'm not usually an existential-type person. The other day, however, I found myself staring up at the sky for no particular reason. In those few fleeting moments, I thought about the ways in which all of us humans are connected—we all place such importance on our own individuality, thinking that our problems are the most important thing in the universe. I know that sounds really depressing, but I am not trying to imply that our lives are meaningless. Our lives are really the only thing that we will ever know.
