Ah, whats not to love about a cookbook. Especially one that has gorgeous mouthwatering food porn photos! I am a cookbook junkie, nothing new there. I get so many cookbooks out of my library its insane. A bit off topic, but my library had a recent crime spree of a few months where cookbooks were being ripped off. So sad. But it was in the papers....a friend called to ask me if I had anything to do with it. Ha! I do have a problem.

When I saw this one pop-up I had to grab it immediately. Ive had it for a few months now reading it cover to cover, again and again, testing things out. Wanting to buy it (still might, just need to find room to store it). Vegan comfort classics is just that....all comfort food, all vegan. Starting off with brunch recipes (oh yum, baked bean tostadas), finger foods (cheesy pesto bread twists), sides & salads, soups, and onto stacked sammiches. Yup, an awesome oyster mushroom po boy (Ive had the non-vegan kind LONG time ago, so this was a perfect replacement). Next is noodles. Naturally I go to the peanut noodles, but there is so much more - mushroom fettucine alfredo, butternut squash cannelloni (yes, my garden has lots of these squashes blooming), and more. The main event has waffle-topped cottage pie, bangers and mash, and more. But oh my....finally, the sweet things. There is a brownie recipe that looks divine but my husband WILL revolt if I make anything than his favorite fudgie brownies. So instead, he gets blackberry crumble bars.

I really like this one. Its a perfect cookbook for someone who wants to experiment with a vegan diet and try out some decent, homey recipes. Obviously, its comfort food so many recipes will appeal to non-vegans. Yes, there are a number of tofu recipes, but just a very few tempeh and seitan. But no expensive, hard-to-find vegan ingredients. Just all natural, veggie meals. And did I mention dessert? Really...like tiramisu triffle, and apple fritters...and more. And I think I just found a space on my shelf for this one.

So cookbooks aren't really traditional fare for me or challenges like this but I'm gonna go with it. I've been a huge Hot For Food fan for years, even before I was.

When Vegan Comfort Classics arrived, I was blown away by not only the abundance of information, the consistently humorous prose, and the perfect balance of recipe genres other cookbooks never have enough sandwich and pasta recipes, in my humble carb-loving opinion , but also by the gorgeous glossy photos! Just a quick flip through the pages is enough to make your tummy rumble, even if you just finished a big meal. The problem always is that these mouth watering, eye-catching, professionally staged photographs can be intimidating to the average home cook. These are the thoughts that go through my head whenever I get my hands on a new cookbook from a chef whose talents I admire. I wanted to write up a real review to give my beloved readers a preview of what they can expect if they order this epic cookbook for themselves. So, without further ado, here were my completely real, completely honest, completely unprofessional experiences when using recipes from Vegan Comfort Classics: Recipes To Feed Your Face!
