HELLO NEIGHBOR: HIDE & SEEK (Nintendo Switch) Reviewed In 60 Seconds!

Hello Neighbor Hide and Seek is a fun and yet infuriating game. Each additional thing you find and add will add time onto a clock and when you find enough objects and accrue enough time you pass the level.

Bloody Disgusting!

The horror genre is by far my preferred genre of choice when it comes to any form of media entertainment. The end result was rather enjoyable. Now though Hello Neighbor is back for more with Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek , but does this prequel adventure have what it takes to maintain the excitement set within the series foundation? Throughout each stage, players will have a collection of items they need to collect before placing them in a basket to progress. Another irritation is that the items hidden within each stage could quite literally be hidden in the tiniest of nooks and crannies and you must find each and every one if you hope to progress. There is an option within the settings menu to help with this should you really be stranded, but even with this on, players are still only pointed in the rough direction of an item; you can be left searching for quite some time, despite not really knowing what the item you are hunting down actually is.

The cover depicts two young precocious looking children morbidly recreating a crime scene with a doll and ketchup while presumably the father whose corduroys, sweater vest, big moustache, and baggy eyes give the vibe of being the foil of their exploits. Levels are broken into different abstract versions of their home, as if playing in an imagination version of the setting, which is actually a clever way to create diverse environments and not be constrained to one drab setting. Short vignettes weave a loose narrative that is mostly there just to tie each level together. Frankly, Hello Neighbor is an exercise in frustration. Movement is akin to old first-person games that feel sluggish in movement with delayed actions.

Hide and Seek doesn't do enough to stand out alongside its predecessor, nor does it attempt to build upon the franchise outside of its plot.
