Choose Your Friends Wisely - Proverbs 13:20 Bible Devotional - Christian Vlogger
For those of you who have really entered into a true Spirit-filled, fully-surrendered walk with the Lord where He is now leading your life in the direction that He will want it to go in — one of the first things that you will find happening is that God will start to prune out the people that He does not want in your life and start to bring in the people that He does want in your life. As you will see in the Scripture verses I will list below, the Bible tells us to choose our friends very carefully in this life.
King James Bible
Dexter is a pastor who believes that every life is precious to God. He enjoys studying the Bible with the intent to inspire others. Friendship is God's gift to us. Without friends, life is a boring and lonely road to walk. But not all friendships are worth our time; some are worth dying to keep and others only lead to disappointment, regret, and sorrow. For some, this might feel daunting, and for others, unnecessary, especially if you consider yourself to be friendly and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. But at some point, you will have to be honest with yourself, look at your friendships, and decide whether to pursue them or let them go.
A man of too many friends comes to ruin, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. The righteous is a guide to his neighbor, But the way of the wicked leads them astray. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Bible Verses about Strength in Friendship
What does the Bible say about? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
God uses friendship as an instrument of sanctification. It is important that all Christians carefully choose their friends. Wise Christian friends will build you up, help you, and bring wisdom. A bad friend will lead you to sin , encourage ungodly traits, and would rather see you fall than do good in life. Sometimes you have to know when friendship with another person is leading you away from the Lord. In this case, you must choose Christ or that friend.
