The Greatest Women in Islamic History
By Tabassum Mosleh May 20th, When we were at school, we were taught the history of the different ages of the Mughal Empire, Captain Cook, Columbus and so on. But most children, even in Islamic countries, are taught little, if anything, of the history of the great men and women in Islam. From the time of Adam as to the fall of the Islamic Empire and beyond, Allah swt has sent in this world exceptional Muslims who changed the course of history with their various contributions to the world. He was the first child to accept Islam in the hands of the Prophet sa , and he became the fourth Caliph of Islam. He was a much-valued Companion of the Prophet sa and later became the judge of Damascus.
Criticism of Islam has existed since its formative stages. Early written disapproval came from Jews and Christians , before the ninth century, many of whom viewed Islam as a radical Christian heresy , as well as by some former Muslim atheists and agnostics , such as Ibn al-Rawandi. Objects of criticism include the morality and authenticity of the Quran and the Hadiths , along with the life of Muhammad , both in his public and personal life. Criticism is a tool employed by some Muslim reformers seeking to improve the religion. There are also outspoken former Muslims who believe that Islam is the primary cause of what they see as the mistreatment of minority groups in Muslim countries and communities.

Lindsay Lohan on Converting to Islam - Good Morning Britain
As a second-generation immigrant with roots in the Muslim community, I sometimes encounter Muslim-themed memes in my social networks. They are fascinating to me, because while they share many of the influences familiar to western audiences, they serve a completely different set of values. It turns out nearly every community has their fair cut of Facebook pages and Instagram accounts posting images that can only be truly appreciated by members of the group. And you can learn a lot about a culture or religion by examining what its people share. Digging into Muslim post-memes I discovered a variety of approaches, and a wide range of religious expression and tension. Many of these images can be interpreted as devout attempts to play within the bounds of Islamic law while stretching it gently to meet pop culture at the edge.
It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. These are human teachings of the highest order and at the same time practicable. These teachings brought into existence a society in which hard-heartedness and collective oppression and injustice were the least as compared with all other societies preceding it…. Islam is replete with gentleness, courtesy, and fraternity. Unlike Christianity, which has as its main image, in the west at least, a man dying in a devastating, disgraceful, helpless death… Mohammed was not an apparent failure.
The role of women in Islam has been debated since the days of Muhammad in the seventh century. The question persists today. Many women in Islamic countries routinely face oppression and violence, but other Muslim-majority countries have female heads of state. These powerful modern leaders, however, are not a new phenomenon. Some of the most important women in Islam were not technically Muslims as they were born before Islam appeared on earth. Hajar and Maryam are two of the most important women in the Islamic faith but were born many years before Muhammad.
