Upon her arrival at the city, Eva sings about her hopes and ambitions of glory as an actress "Buenos Aires". After her arrival, Eva is quick to leave Magaldi, and Che relates the story of how Eva sleeps her way up the social ladder, becoming a model, radio star, and actress "Goodnight and Thank You".
Born out of wedlock, Eva, commonly known as Evita, left school when she was 16 and went to Buenos Aires to pursue her dream of becoming a star. She found a job on one of the radio stations and remained there until, in , she met Juan Peron, the Secretary of Labour and Social Welfare, who had ambitions to be president, and was working with the Argentine workers to support this bid. Evita began a relationship with Peron and she helped him to win popular support. His popularity led to his arrest in , but Evita helped to organise a mass demonstration that led to his release. Peron stood in the presidential elections in and Evita was an active campaigner by his side, an unprecedented occurrence in Argentine politics. Peron was duly elected and Evita continued to play an active role.
