I have many memories of listening to her read to me on her porch swing through the rustling of the colorful autumn leaves. One thing my grandmother instilled in me at a very early age is the importance of celebrating the very thing fall represents: the harvest. I am so happy that my husband and I have been able to carry on this same tradition with our very own children. I want to share with you 7 of our very favorite harvest inspired books that our family enjoys together year-after-year. Some are old, some are new, but we are always searching and adding to our current inventory of nearly harvest books! The Night Before Thanksgiving was given to us when our first child was born in It quickly became a keeper.

There's a change of season in the air. Gardens are ready for harvest, pumpkins are ready to carve, and costumes are made ready to wear. Here are the best fall books for toddlers and preschoolers. Books that I had to buy because even at the library they were always checked out or on hold. Complete with a recipe, Growing Vegetable Soup shows kids what it looks like to grow a garden specifically for vegetable soup, harvest the vegetables, and then of course - eat your bounty.
