Swoons Follow Nick Jonas, on and Off the London Stage

I heartily agree about the hair! But seriously I agree with everything you said. Except I do think that he did A little fall of rain in way that wasn't to bad. He looks, for only a bit I grant you, like he's going to cry during that scene. Go Micheal Ball! Best marius ever!

However, he is the romantic hero and does at least try to help his friends, even if it is somewhat misplaced, so he is still at least partially sympathetic. It is therefore interesting to compare the three most famous portrayals of the character — Michael Ball, the original, Nick Jonas in the 25 th anniversary concert and Eddie Redmayne in the global smash-hit film — to see how much difference a voice makes. Nick Jonas was clearly the mass appeal choice for the O2 concerts, designed to draw in normal punters as well as musical aficionados, a role he arguably shared with Matt Lucas since every other lead role was filled with a West End regular. The most annoying thing Nick does is use his pop inflections in Empty Chairs At Empty Tables; from the very first verse, he uses little slides and vowel emphases that make the song devoid of any emotion and make it purely a vocal performance. Eddie Redmayne and Michael Ball should both be congratulated in different ways; Michael will always be the definitive Marius, after many years of singing the music and debuting it in the first place, but it would be hard to find someone better than Eddie to adapt the character and his music to the film medium.

“Nick Jonas did an okay job in Les Mis, but I couldn't help laughing the whole time because of his facial expressions.” To each their own. All reviews are from les.

It was a musical that replaced the slaphappy grins, noxiously sweet melodies and mindless dancing common to many performances with revolutionary furor, an intricate plot and all the passion and drama found in the original novel by Victor Hugo. Jonas, of the pop group the Jonas Brothers, entertained the thousands crowded into the O2 arena in London as Marius, one of the student revolutionaries. Jonas strained to hit the same notes that the experienced actors so easily belted. Their relationship consequently faded into the background of the multifaceted plot. He violates parole but vows to turn his life around. A myriad of colorful, secondary characters embellish the bleak French background with their own personal conflicts while Valjean struggles with his secret. Alfie Boe soulfully sang the part of Jean Valjean.
